“The Joker” – one of the most beautiful Backdate Porsches!
With “The Joker” Kaege delivered one of the most beautiful Backdate Porsche. And it’s purple.
Porsche is cult and especially the enthusiasm for old 911s is unbroken. The so-called Restomods and Backdate Porsches represent a very special style. These are Porsches in the old look, but with modern technology. Nevertheless but of course air-cooled. Many of the manufacturers of Backdate Porsche, like Singer for example, use the 964 as a basis. Kaege on the other hand builds its Restomods on the basis of the 993 Porsche 911.
The client of “The Joker” is William Lai, a car enthusiast from Hong Kong. The special challenge: In order to be able to drive a Restomod in Hong Kong, a right-hand drive donor vehicle had to be produced, which had already received approval in Hong Kong. Lai found a 1994 911 to be a suitable vehicle, albeit in a colour that takes getting used to: purple! Although a new paint job is included in a new body, Lai wanted to keep the colour. The occasion was a comic book by Batman and his famous opponent, the Joker, which caught Lai’s eye. Roger Kaege set to work and produced a unique piece that is the source of boundless admiration not only in Hong Kong.
Thanks to an elaborate refinement with 37 new carbon parts, the car weighs over 160 kilograms less than the donor vehicle. The 272 bhp boxer engine was increased to 300 bhp with standard Porsche technology. The top speed is 275 km/h. In addition there is a specially tuned KW coilover suspension. The conversion took more than 20 months and costed over 295,000 Euros.
By the way, Lai uses his dream car as a daily driver. What a cool guy!
